WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock gained control of property near Overlook Drive from the United States Corps of Engineers pursuant to a 25 -year lease to be used as a public park; and WHEREAS, because the use of the park had subsided and there were numerous problems in the area and the City did not have the funds to properly maintain and police the park, the Board of Directors indicated a desire to terminate the lease and return the property to the federal government; and WHEREAS, since that time the City has realized the need for this park, and because of certain improvements in the City's financial position, is able to fund the maintenance and operation of this park. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock states its intent to seek a return of the Overlook Park property, via an appropriate lease agreement, to the control and custody of the City of Little Rock to be operated and maintained as a park. SECTION 2. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of such ordinances and resolutions, inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
