4 A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE
5 LOCATION OF THE ARKANSAS STATE
6 POLICE HEADQUARTERS IN SOUTHWEST
7 LITTLE ROCK; DIRECTING THE MAYOR
8 AND THE CITY CLERK TO PRESENT THIS
9 RESOLUTION TO THE GOVERNOR FOR HIS
i0 CONSIDERATION; AND FOR OTHER
11 PURPOSES.

13 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has had discussions with
14 the Arkansas State Police about the relocation of its
15 headquarters facilities to Southwest Little Rock in a building
16 currently occupied by the Southwest City Mall; and
17 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has committed to provide
18 certain cooperative services if the facility is located in
19 Southwest Little Rock; and
20 WHEREAS, the renovation of the Southwest City Mall into an
21 Arkansas State Police Headquarters can be accomplished more
22 quickly than the location of a site and the building of an
23 entire new building; and
24 WHEREAS, there have been some public statements of concern
25 about the location of the Arkansas State Police Headquarters in
26 Southwest Little Rock.
27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
28 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
29 SECTION 1. The Board of Directors unanimously states its
30 desire to have the Arkansas State Police Headquarters relocate
31 to Southwest Little Rock in the building currently occupied by
32 the Southwest City Mall. The Board directs the Mayor and the
33 City Clerk to provide this unanimous statement of support to the
34 Governor for his consideration in deciding the location of the
35 Arkansas State Police Headquarters.
