A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND THE FORTY -EIGHT
(48) HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, COLLECTIVELY
AND INDIVIDUALLY, WHO ARE CITIZENS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AND WHO
HAVE EARNED SPECIAL SCHOLASTIC
DISTINCTION AS A 1994 NATIONAL MERIT
SEMIFINALIST; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses a
student's performance on the Preliminary /National Merit Student
Qualifying Test as a basis for initially qualifying students as
Semifinalists for a National Merit Scholarship; and
WHEREAS, National Merit Semifinalists constitute
approximately one -half of one percent (0.5%) of the nation's
1995 graduating senior students; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock produced 48 such
semifinalists this year; and
WHEREAS, such recognition reflects positively upon the City
of Little Rock, Arkansas, and also serves as an inspiration for
other students within the City; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors wishes to honor these
students for this outstanding scholastic achievement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas, grants special recognition, collectively and
individually, in honor of the 48 students who are residents of
the City of Little Rock and who have distinguished themselves as
1994 National Merit Semifinalists.
SECTION 2: The Clerk is directed to give each student an
appropriately individualized copy of this Resolution in the form
attached as Exhibit A.
