91291 `A 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 157 RESOLUTION NO. 9.129 RESOLUTION TO COMMEND MARVIN BENTON AND JIM XULI"AX FOR OUTSTANDING AND HEROIC SERVICE AS MEMBERS OF :1' LITTLE ROCK FIRE 1 E1• *!,04 I-K 1 • N rt-RIR RECEIPT OF :I' MEDAL OF VALOR, AND TO HONOR CAPTAIN RICK HAND, CAPTAIN RON HUDSON, CAPTAIN PAUL GUNTHER, DRIVER CHARLES GHIDOTTI, DRIVER DAVID PERRY, AND FIREFIGHTER WILLIAM STING UPON THEIR RECEIPT OF THE MEDAL OF MERIT AND WHEREAS, Marvin Benton and Jim Mullenax answered a fire call to 3712 Confederate on April 5, 1993, and, in the course of fighting the fire, entered the burning building to search for persons that may have been trapped inside, for which action they have received the Medal of Valor; and WHEREAS, while they were in the burning building a wall totally collapsed around them and trapped them inside the structure; and WHEREAS, Captain Rick Hand, Captain Ron Hudson, Captain Paul Gunther, Driver Charles Ghidotti, Driver David Perry, and Firefighter William Sting rushed into the burning building at great risk to their own personal safety to rescue their comrades, for which action these men were awarded the Medal Of Merit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Board of Directors notes with special pride the award of the Medal of Merit to Captain Rick Hand, Captain Ron Hudson, Captain Paul Gunther, Driver Charles Ghidotti, Driver David Perry, and Firefighter William Sting for their heroic actions in plunging into the burning building after the collapse of a wall to save the lives of their fellow firefighters. SECTION 3. The Board of Directors notes that these men, as outstanding examples of dedication, integrity, selflessness and loyalty, deserve our praises and our thanks even though we know that mere words cannot capture the deep respect and appreciation that all citizens of the City of Little Rock feel for these men as friends and protectors.
