4 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY
5 MANAGER TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR
6 PARTS FOR CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT;
7 TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR REPAIR
8 SERVICE FOR CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT;
9 AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

11 WHEREAS, the City has submitted competitive bids to provide
12 an annual contract for repair service for construction equipment
13 and to provide an annual parts contract for construction
14 equipment; and
15 WHEREAS, the low bidder in these competitive bidding
16 processes have been recommended to receive this award.
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
18 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
19 SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a
20 contract for repair service for construction equipment with J.A.
21 Riggs Company of Little Rock, Arkansas, for service on
22 Caterpillar equipment and with Burgess Equipment Company of
23 Little Rock, Arkansas, for service on dresser service equipment;
24 with Burgess Equipment Company of Little Rock, Arkansas, for
25 service on Ingersol -Rand Service equipment; and with Arktrac of.
26 Little Rock, Arkansas for service on John Deere equipment; and
27 with Arkansas Construction Equipment Company for service on
28 Komatsu service equipment.
29 SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized to enter into
30 contracts to provide parts for a period of one year for
31 construction equipment as follows: with Clark Machinery Company
32 of Little Rock, Arkansas for Athey parts; with Clark Machinery
33 Company of Little Rock, Arkansas, for parts with Blaw -Knox
34 parts; with Scott Construction Company of Little Rock for Case
35 parts; with J.A. Riggs Construction Company for Caterpillar
36 parts; with Arkansas Construction Equipment Company of Little

RECOMMENDATION AND DISCUSSION: It's recommended that the low
bidder for each category be accepted. It was expected that only
one response would be received in most cases as these are the
statewide service dealers for these brands. On item (2), Dresser
Service, Carl Bailey had a lower hourly rate but their parts
charges were 10% higher which would offset any savings in the
hourly charges. It is further recommended that this contract be
renewable for one additional year as per the terms of the bid and
with the City Manager's approval.
