RESOLUTION NO. 9,000
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO PLACE
FOUR RESOURCE OFFICERS IN THE LITTLE ROCK
SCHOOL DISTRICT; TO ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE
LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT TO PAY
ONE -HALF OF THE SALARY EXPENSE OF THESE
OFFICERS; TO DIRECT THE FINANCE DIRECTOR
& TREASURER TO PLACE THESE PAYMENTS INTO
THE APPROPRIATE ACCOUNT FOR THE POLICE
BUDGET; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors, in cooperation with the
Little Rock School District, has determined that the placement
of police department personnel in the City schools will provide
an excellent opportunity for positive interaction between these
personnel and school children; and
WHEREAS, this program, known as a School Resource Officer
program, has been successfully implemented at McClellan. High
School; and
WHEREAS, the School District wishes to expand the program
as soon as possible and the Chief of Police has noted an ability
to place four resource officers into City schools during the
current school year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors endorses the Chief of
Police' program to immediately make four additional school
resource officers available to the Little Rock School District
pursuant to guidelines for the use of resource officers already
established.
SECTION 2. The Board directs the Finance Director &
Treasurer to accept any payments from the School District and to
place these payments into the appropriate account for the Police
Department budget.
