A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD A
CONTRACT FOR THE DEMOLITION OF THE
SECOND STREET BRIDGE.

WHEREAS, the East 2nd Street Bridge has been closed to
truck traffic for more than a year due to deterioration of the
bridge structure; and
WHEREAS, the existing structure spans an abandoned railroad
bed; and
WHEREAS, the City plans to demolish the bridge structure,
fill the railroad bed and reconstruct 2nd Street from Byrd Street
to Industrial Drive; and
WHEREAS, Missouri Pacific Railroad has contributed
$154,301.40 to the City for the repairs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept bids
and award a contract to Gene Summers Construction Company in the
amount of $210,717.55 for the demolition of the Second Street
Bridge.
SECTION 2. Funds for this project are available in Account
210 - 220 -0262 and 210 - 220 -0175.
