A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH GARVER AND
GARVER FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES TO
REPLACE THE THIRD STREET VIADUCT.

WHEREAS, the City entered into an agreement with the
Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) to design
and construct a replacement structure for the Third Street
viaduct; and
WHEREAS, funding for the project is to be 80% Federal
Bridge Safety and Rehabilitation Funds and 20% City funds; and
WHEREAS, a bridge inspection in January, 1992, indicates
the bridge is badly deteriorated and scheduled replacement needs
to be advanced to the Spring of 1993; and
WHEREAS, due to prior work schedules, AHTD cannot
reschedule the design work and has recommended that the City
assume the design responsibilities to expedite the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: Pursuant to Section 2 -243 of the Little Rock
Code of Ordinances, the City Manager is authorized to enter into a
contract with Garver and Garver, in an amount not to exceed
$134,100, for engineering design services to replace the Third
Street viaduct.
SECTION 2: Funding for this project is available in
Account No. 210 -220- 00181.
