A RESOLUTION COMMENDING GEORGE BROWN
FOR HIS SACRIFICE AND UNDERTAKING THE
EFFORT TO RESTORE AND CONVERT THE
ALEXANDER GEORGE HOUSE INTO A MUSEUM.

WHEREAS, the Alexander George House was built in 1858 in
downtown Little Rock and has been a resident Civil War Fortress,
Confederate Hospital, Union Hospital, St. Vincent First Hospital,
and Railroad Workers Hospital; and
WHEREAS, the Alexander George House is currently in
disrepair and vacant; and'
WHEREAS, efforts by Mr. George Brown have been made to
acquire and renovate the site into a museum.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: The Little Rock Board of Directors recognizes
the historical and architectural significance of the Alexander
George House to the City of Little Rock and supports the efforts
of Mr. George Brown to restore and convert it into a museum.
SECTION 2: The Little Rock Board of Directors, on behalf
of the citizens of the City of Little Rock, further commends Mr.
George Brown for making the sacrifice and undertaking the effort
to preserve an essential part of the City's history.
