A RESOLUTION ADOPTING HANAN CITY,
SOUTH KOREA AS A SISTER CITY TO
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City has become acquainted with Hanam City,
South Korea, through its enjoyable and continued association
with the national competition of the American Taekwondo Society;
and
WHEREAS, visits by officials of Hanam City, South Korea, to
the City of Little Rock, and by Vice -Mayor Jim Dailey to Hanam
City, South Korea, have sparked a mutual interest in the
cultural and economic development of the two cities; and
WID;REAS, Hanam City, South Korea, a river city known as the
„Southern City of the Han River" from the South Korean name
" Hanam Wyireasong ", is the seat of government for the Baek -jae
Kingdom; and
WHEREAS, Hanam City has stated public goals that are very
similar to those of the City of Little Rock, including but not
limited to, building citizen awareness and activating local
economic development; and
WHEREAS, both Hanam City, South Korea, and the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas, are cities of culture and art for their
respective areas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock wishes to develop sister
city relationships with communities in other countries that
share the same basic values as do the citizens of the City of
Little Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City of Little Rock, Arkansas, hereby adopts
Hanam City, South Korea, as a sister city and agrees to be
adopted as a Sister City by Hanam City.

SECTION 2_ The Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to
enter into any written documents necessary to reflect this close
sister city relationship.
