8625M RESOLUTION NO. 8,625 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE LITTLE ROCK HOUSING AUTHORITY EFFORTS TO SECURE A UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT PUBLIC HOUSING YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM (YSP) GRANT. Whereas, the City of Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department recognizes the importance of providing recreational programs and activities to youth which serve as attractive alternatives to drugs and gangs in public housing communities; and Whereas, the Little Rock Housing Authority is desirous of making application to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for a Public Housing Youth Sports Program Grant; and Whereas, this grant has been determined to be beneficial to both the Little Rock Housing Authority operations and the City of Little Rock and its residents, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK BOARD OF DIRECTORS THAT: SECTION 1: The City Manager is authorized to collaborate with the Little Rock Housing Authority in its application to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for a Public Housing Youth Sports Grant. M M 11 1l! 1 SECTION 2: The grant funds will be used to offer positive recreational alternatives to the youth of Sunset Terrace, Highland Park, Ameila B. Ives Homes, Joseph A. Booker Homes, and Hollingsworth Grove. SECTION 3: This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and approval.
