(A copy of the program description is attached as Exhibit A.) Watershed, Inc. Pathfinder, Inc. Cornerstone Project, Inc. LRSD - HIPPY LRSD- Alternative Learning Center Classroom Training On- the -Job Training Youth Competencies LRSD - Summer Learning Program City Beautiful Kids Protect Arkla- Operation Good Neighbor Boy Scouts of America, Inc. Twenty -five (25) of those youth will enter employ- ment and nineteen (19) will attain competency. Pathfinder, Schools, Inc.: Classroom training is to provide occupational ski I I s trai ning fo twenty -four, (24) (19 adults and 5 youth) mentally and /or physically handicapped. Training clusters include: Packaging and handling of products; shelf stocking; fabrication and assembly of electrical circuit boards; fabrication and repair, of wood products; wood machining; printing; vehicle repair and maintenance; grounds maintenance and operation of equip- ment; data input; computer; and industrial assembly. Average training lenght is 16 weeks at 30 hours per week. Pathfinder also does certifica- tion, counseling, job development and placement, and provides some trans- portation. Job specific skills training will be offered to youth. Corner,Stone Project, Inc.: This project is to provide youth identified as being at -ri- , ages 4 -15 years with a variety of activities and services leading to improved employment competencies. All youth will be provided Personal Achievement Skills (PAS) training following enrollment. Tutoring and counseling is provided as needed. LRSD HIPPY: This program is designed to train (9) par.a- professionals who w17 tFe_nwork with low- income mothers to teach them how to use learning materials at home with pre - school youngsters. Six (6) of those participants will become teacher aides for the school district at the end of training. The program is (30) weeks in length ending on June 30, 1992. LRSD - Alternative Learning Center,: The Little Rock School District will pro- vide academic, educational an social support to at -risk youth ages 14 -16 years, enabling them to return to and function effectively in their reqular school. SDA -CRT: Institutional occupational training will be provided by area sc� Viand training facilities through subcontractual arrangements. Books and tuition will be provided, but allowance payment or stipends will be paid. Applicants will be tested and assessed prior to enrollment. Vo- cational counseling and job placement will be provided by City staff. The total funds includes $200,000 to complete training of PY'89 -90 participants (210 estimated) Ruff A --7 229 Title IIA & IIB Program Descriptions Page (2) SDA -OJT: Training will be provided for seventy -five (75) participants in demand occupations. Both private and public sector employers will design programs which will meet employer hiring needs and result in full -time permanent unsubsidized employment at wages of $5.15 or more per hour. Youth Competencies: Youth Competency training will be offered to youth whose pre- es ing scores identify deficiencies. Competency instruction will be arranged for and tracked. Pre and post testing will be provided in all areas for purposes of documentation and proof of attainment of satisfactory completion of training /remediation. TITLE IIB PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS LRSD - Summer Learning Program: Remediation in reading and math will be provided to approximately one undred forty -four (144) participants de- monstrating the greatest needs over a six -week period. Pre- testing and post - testing will be administered by the District. City Beautiful Kids Project: This project will provide summer employment and educational experiences for, (120) youth ages 14 -16 years. Participants will be engaged in removing trash, clearing grass and weeds from sidewalks, alleys and streets. Arkla 'Operation Good Neightbor ": This project which is conducted for (8) wee Ks during the summer will emp oy forty (40) youth ages 16 -18. Youth will weatherize approximately one thousand (1000) homes during the project period. Boy Scouts of America, Inc.: This program provides leadership training to youth ages IL-16 years of age. Outstations: This allocation of $145,750.78 will provide summer employment a va-i �rious public worksites for approximately one hundred thirty -five (135) youth ages 16 -21. *Participant Assistance: These are cost associated wth assisting participants by providing employment certification of eligibility, counseling, assessing participants needs and abilities, development of appropriate training activ- iteis and job development upon completion of training as well as conducting follow -up surveys. *Administration: Cost involved in the administration of the overall program including managerial salaries and fringes, and overhead costs. NOTE: * These cost categories and activities are a part of all titles. ��C>-01
