M 187 WHEREAS, the Arkansas Aviation Historical Society, the aviation industries of our state, the Little Rock Airport Commission, and the Little Rock School District have joined hands to create the Aerospace Education Center, a unique institution which will combine an Aerospace Technology Magnet High School with the Arkansas Museum of Aviation History; and WHEREAS, the Aerospace Education Center will provide increased opportunities for young people to develop careers in aerospace and other high technology fields, including many underprivileged students who might not otherwise have a chance to learn these skills; and WHEREAS, the Aerospace Education Center, which will be located on a tract of land provided by the Airport Commission adjacent to the Little Rock Regional Airport, will provide additional incentives for aviation industries and other technology firms to invest in Little Rock; and W REAS, the aviation industries of Little Rock have pledged their support and dedication of resources to this unique cooperative venture; and WHEREAS, this unprecedented public - private partnership has led the way in setting an example of a successful joint venture between the business community, government, and public education; and WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration has recognized the outstanding community -wide effort to create the Aerospace Education Center by naming Greater Little Rock the recipient of RUB R--$ w w 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 w w 188 the 1991 Administrator's Award for Excellence in Aviation Education. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the City of Little Rock recognizes the outstanding efforts of the Arkansas Aviation Historical Society, the Little Rock Airport Commission, and the Little Rock School District in creating this unprecedented educational alliance; and SECTION 2. That the City wholeheartedly endorses the Aerospace Education Center, and expresses the gratitude of the citizens of Little Rock to the participants in the project for the vision they have shown in creating this cooperative venture for the betterment of our community.
