CBC_10 26 2023LITTLE ROCK CITY BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES The City Beautiful Commission held a planned meeting at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Willie L. Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center, 3805 West 12th Street. Simultaneously the meeting was virtually held online using the WebEx format. With Chairman Sanders-Woods being absent, Vice-Chairman Steven Homeyer called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: Steven Homeyer Louis Miller Troy Laha Kristen Dane Bob Winchester Beverly Palmer WEBEX: MEMBERS ABSENT: BJ Sanders-Woods Robert Walker Kenny Stephens-resigned Adam Wierciak Kia Wilson ALSO PRESENT: Beth Carpenter, Little Rock City Attorney’s Office Brad Jordan, Little Rock Department of Planning and Development Rick Reynolds, Little Rock Department of Planning and Development APPROVAL OF THE SEPTEMBER MEETING MINUTES: Roll call showed six (6) commissioners present. Having a quorum, Vice-Chairman Homeyer called the meeting to order, and asked for approval of the previous meeting minutes. Motion: A motion was made that the September 28, 2023, minutes be approved. Second: The motion was seconded, and it passed unanimously. VARIANCE REQUEST: None requested. TREASURER’S REPORT: Expense Report: No report. Commissioner Homeyer presented the invoice for the Landscape Awards signs. KLRB: KLRB will have a booth set up at the Hillcrest Harvest Fest on Saturday, October 28 and at the Cornbread Festival on Saturday, November 4. Commissioners are invited to come by and introduce themselves. Adopt-A-Street: The next cleanup will be on November 18. The meeting place will be the Regions Bank parking lot at 8:00 am. Eye of the Beholder: No report. Additional nomination cards were handed out to the commissioners present. T.R.E.E. Fund: No report. We are waiting for word on the Girl Scout project cost to determine our contribution. NEW BUSINESS: • Nominations and voting for CBC officers. Chairperson-Steve Homeyer; Vice-Chairperson- Beverly Palmer; Treasurer-Louise Miller. All positions were elected unanimously. 6-0. • Discussion, review, and voting for the Landscape Awards. The top three vote-getters were: The Burgundy Hotel, 1501 Merrill Drive, 5 votes Chick-fil-A, 6201 W. Markham Street, 4 votes McKenzie Park Apartments, 14201 Kanis Road, 3 votes • Discussion about Commission vacancies and upcoming renewals. Staff will investigate with the City Clerk’s Office. • Discussion to target a date for the CBC Retreat in February 2024. Commissioner Homeyer will investigate and report. • Discussion about meeting dates for November and December. It was decided to move the November meeting from Thanksgiving Day to the following week November 30, and to cancel the December 28 meeting. Staff will investigate with the Hinton Center. ANNOUNCEMENTS: None. ADJOURNMENT: Vice-Chairman Homeyer entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion: A motion was made for the meeting to adjourn. Second: The motion was seconded, and it passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 4:44 pm.
