Chair Homeyer called the meeting to order. Second: Commissioner Warren seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. TREASURER'S REPORT: need electronic copy from Commissioner Redding. Motion: Commissioner Luten made a motion to accept the treasurer's report as submitted. Second: Commissioner Warren seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. LANDSCAPE ORDINANCE UPDATE: Mr. Dana Carney, Zoning and Subdivision Mana er, reported the Board would be reviewing the landscape ordinance revisions at the October 20" public meeting. Commission Warren noted that she'd sent a letter via email out to the State Landscape Architects. COMMITTEE REPORTS: UPDATES: OLD BUSINESS: Coin munio Praiects City Hall Rear Entry Garden —Commissioner Warren noted she'd sent an email and confirmed the ribbon cutting to be September 241h at 2:30 p.m. on site. Commissioner Warren noted she'd contact Mr. Nash Abrams about the ceremony. Mark Webre in Parks and Recreation stated the plaque would be adhered to the rock prior to the ceremony. Press of the ceremony was discussed. I-630 Trees -no report KLRB Walter - Commissioner Jennings reported the litter survey was completed. Eighteen (18) different streets were identified as problems. There is a community clean up on October the loth. City Connections is coordinating the clean up. Ten (10) to Twelve (12) locations were identified as dumping areas. The city has already been contacted to clean up these areas. Landscape Awards Lee Ann)- Commissioner Warren noted this is the 301h anniversary for the CBC. Commissioner Warren displayed various poster designs as options for the landscape award. Commissioner Overall noted she is working with city staff and coordinating the various activities for the ceremony. Staff presented the landscape award nominees via PowerPoint Presentation: The winners of the 2009 CBC Landscape Awards follow: Mount Holly Cemetery Cal -Ark Trucking Pleasant Ridge Town Center Motion: Commissioner Redding made a motion to the Autumn design for the award posters. Second: Vice -Chair Wiedower seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Adopt -A -Street- Commissioner Warren noted that she'd retrieved the litter equipment from Jessica and has in her possession. NEW BUSINESS: Commissioner Warren noted she'd received a phone call from the LR Airport. The airport has plans to participate on September the 18th in a nation wide green space. It includes turning a parking space into greenspace. Commissioner Warren distributed brochures of Curran Hall to the CBC. Mr. Dana Carney noted that Curran Hall is excited about the move. New signage was discussed. It was noted this area is located in the McArthur Overlay District. Commissioner Overall noted she'd been in contact with Ms. Susan Langley regarding the presentation of the 2009 landscape awards. Ms. Langley is checking with City Manager, Bruce Moore about the date. LANDSCAPE ORDINANCE UPDATE: Mr. Dana Carney, Zoning and Subdivision Manager, reported to the CBC upon numerous meetings, basically four (4) issues continue to be areas of contention within the development community. A synopsis of the changes was distributed to the CBC per Mr. Carney. Discussion commenced on the proposed changes and the areas of contention and possible resolution(s). Motion: Commissioner Jennings made a motion to accept the newly proposed changes and recommend going forward with the changes to the Board of Directors. Second: Commissioner Redding seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. 2010 BUDGET REQUEST: Mr. Tony Bozynski, Director of the Planning & Development Department noted that to date, the annual monies for the CBC was still in the budget. COMMITTEE REPORTS: UPDATES: OLD BUSINESS: Community Pro'ects City Hall Rear Entry Garden —no report. I-630 Trees -Commissioner Cole has decided to be on this committee. Landscape Awards Lee Ann)- Commissioner Overall announced she'd taken care of the food, the plates, and the tables all to be delivered Tuesday morning. Ms. Overall noted that she'd also recognize the donors at the table. Ms. Overall noted she'd present the awards; however, needed someone to take photos of the event. It was noted that typically the awardees is given an opportunity to speak at the ceremony. Commissioner Cole noted that she would handle the matting and framing of the awards. Chairs need to be reserved in the board room and all CBC are to be at the City Hall Rotunda at 5:15 p.m. Meg Matthews, the City of Little Rock's PR individual has agreed to do a press release and take pictures at the ceremony. Inviting Arkansas was also contacted. Eye of the Beholder aturn - There are 25 Eye of the Beholders to date. It was noted that the City Hall water feature was featured in the Arkansas Democrat/Gazette newspaper, on television channel 4, and on television channel 11. It was noted that the Parks and Recreation Department done a great job on the plaque including its location on the rock. Public Relations(Cole)- no report. Library Exhibit atum -Commissioner Tatum went to Terry Library to get the exhibit. It will be displayed in January at the Thompson Library. Perhaps, eventually the CBC can have an exhibit at Curran Hall. KLRB(Walter)-_Commissioner Jennings reported the Forche Creek Clean-up is now October the i Ot .. They looking for people to help and especially those with a boat. Another clean up, the Clean-up of Love is also October the 141h. They are in need of about 100 people for this endeavor. KLRB's website will be upon soon. KLRB is already on Face book. Their new location is Main Street and 15th. Suzanne is at that location 2 days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Ada t-A-Street- Commissioner Warren noted the next pick-up is in November. Garden Show 2010- eddin - Commissioner Redding noted that the CBC has tried to pay the fee for the Garden Show prior to the end of the year to get the early bird discount. The amount of monies left in the city account was questioned. Mr. Bozynski noted that'd he'd check on the amount and get back to the CBC. Communications -(Cole)- no report. NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Carney noted that the following CBC positions are expiring soon or vacant: Steve Homeyer Debra Redding Ben Jackson Chair, Steve Homeyer made comment of his intention to remain on the CBC and will submit his paperwork. Meeting Location: Curran Hall Curran Hall location was discussed, in lieu, of the Sister Cities Conference Room at City Hall. Motion: Commissioner Tatum made a motion to make Curran Hall the permanent meeting location for the CBC. Second: Commissioner Warren seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. CSC Face book Page Previously, inquires about the CBC having a Face book web -page. Ms. Beth Carpenter noted that - Bruce Moore, City Manager for the City of Little Rock and--ii way ,relayed,nat-at-dii$-tiI - Commissioner Tatum noted that in the future perhaps the CBC could consider/request signage for the CBC on site at Curran Hall.
