Chair Wiedower called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: Bill Wiedower Steve Homeyer Linda Bell Carrie Young Jennie Cole Lynn Warren Chris Minor Brittany Cliff MEMBERS ABSENT: Herb Dicker vacancy vacancy ALSO PRESENT: Christy Marvel, Plans Development Administrator, Department of Planning & Development, City of Little Rock Beth Blevins Carpenter, Deputy City Attorney, City.Attorney's Office, City of Little Rock APPROVAL OF THE AUGUST MINUTES: Motion: Commissioner Cliff made a motion to accept the minutes with changes noted. Second: Commissioner Cole seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. TREASURER'S REPORT: Commissioner Bell noted there was no change in the balance from last month. The regular CBC account continues to have $1,297.05 to date. OLD BUSINESS: COMMITTEE REPORTS: UPDATES: 1-630 Trees Dicker Minor Marvel - no report. City Hall -South Yard HomeverlWarren -Commissioner Warren handed out a color rendition of a landscape plan for the triangular area in front of city hall. Commissioner went over the design with CBC. It was noted the Parks Department may have new plant material that could be used for this project. It was mentioned adding color and opening the area up for more visibility of the historic building is a plus. Commissioner Warren noted the current location of the bike path restricts safe pedestrian thoroughfare and should be relocated with this redesign. It was noted the bed currently holds three flag poles. Discussion commenced regarding the automatic irrigation system; Commissioner Homeyer noted he would check to see if it's currently operational. Maybe a bench could located where the bike rack is currently located. Commissioner Young arrived. Website (Warren) -no report. Library Exhibit/History Exhibit (BelVCliffi-Discussion commenced regarding a display cabinet and its location. Commissioner Bell noted she would be turning over her exhibit to Commissioner Cliff since she will be leaving the Commission. A digital photo holder might be an option if the display case has electricity. The location(s) for the exhibit follow: October, Thompson Library; November, Fletcher Library; and December, City Hall. It was mentioned if the CBC gets the display for the Convention Center it should include a stipulation that the CBC gets use of it one or twice a year. Use of the display during the Garden Show and the month of August would be optimal. KLRB (Wiedower)-It was noted Nash Abrams would like to be added to the CBC agenda soon. Eye Awards ff oung)-Commissioner Young distributed a sample Eye Award for feedback. Also, noted was the website update of the award winners. Commissioner Young noted the suggested changes from the CBC and that she would work on making those changes. Ado t-A-Street (Dicker) -It was noted the Razorback game in Little Rock was this weekend so the pickup should be re -scheduled. Vice -chair Dicker noted he would send out an email regarding the plans. Information/Communication Cole -Commissioner Cole noted she had run an announcement for the Landscape Awards in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Eye Award was noted on the KUAR website. Landscape Awards (Rom eyer)-Commissioner Homeyer noted the signs are in his-ossession for 2012 and already painted. d Commissioner Homeyer noted the CBC needs to get «ith the Board of Directors on presenting the awards in October. Chair Wiedower noted the Landmark award would be presented at that time too. Business Cards (Minor) - Commissioner Minor had a template for the CBC business cards for feedback from the CBC. It was also noted currently, they are offering a twenty percent (20%) discount. Landmark Award (Wiedower)-Chair Wiedower noted the award to be presented with landscape awards in October. NEW BUSINESS: 2012 Landscape A« ards: City staff presented the nominees for the 2012 Landscape Awards via a PowerPoint Presentation. The winners follow: 9 'US Pizza on Kavanaugh, 2710 Kavanaugh Boulevard Bernice Gardens, 1401 S.
