COMMITTEE REPORTS: UPDATES:
I-630 Trees Dicker Minoi Marvel - no report.
City Hall -South Yard ome er/Warren -It was noted Chair Wiedower had emailed the
commission regarding the need for a site plan of the front of City Hall property. Chair
Wiedower noted that since a site plan cannot be found then he would measure the area and draw
it for the CBC.
Website Warren) -Commissioner Warren noted she had been rotating the on -going events on
the CBC webpage. Things such as: gardening events, recycling events, adding links, Mount
Holly's garden series, Iris show in August and on the right side of the page were: the Eye of the
Beholder and the Landscape Award nominations. Commissioner Warren requested the minutes
from the 2012 CBC Retreat from Commissioner Wise; It was decided they were complete and
Commissioner Johnson would email them to Commissioner Warren. Vice -chair Dicker inquired
about the statistics reflecting the CBC website traffic.
Librar
v Exhibit[Histo Exhibit eR/Johnson -The exhibit is at Fletcher Library. Discussion
commenced regarding its erection at Robinson Center. Commissioner Johnson announced she
had been appointed to the Sister Cities Commission and was unsure if she would be able to be on
both Commissions. Beth Carpenter, Deputy City Attorney, noted she would check on that issue
and get back with Commissioner Johnson.
KLRB iedower -no report.
Ado t-A-Street (Dicker) -Discussion commenced regarding the holiday weekend. It was
decided to move the date to May 12t'; sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Vice -chair
Dicker will decide and send an email out confirming such.
Information/Communication (Cole) -It was noted Roby Brock was in contact with
Commissioner Homeyer regarding the Landscape Awards. It is scheduled to be filmed early
next week. They may end up shooting the film at the veterinarian clinic; Commissioner
Homeyer is continuing to work out the details. Perhaps a press release for the announcement of
the opening of the Landscape Awards would be optimal.
Eve of the Beholder (Yours -Commissioner Young noted she had received two (2)
nominations thus far: one (1) from Commissioner Bell and one (1) from Commissioner Warren.
Send in your nominations and include the address and include your Ward on them please.
Bernice Gardens off Main Street was discussed. It is a nice amenity to the City of Little Rock;
however, it was unclear what type of award it is eligible to receive. City Staff, Christy Marvel,
noted she would locate the area in question and get back to the Commission on the options.
Landscape Awards ome er -Commissioner Homeyer noted he will continue working on the
PR film with/for Roby Brocks show.
Landmark Award iedower -Chair Wiedower noted in an email that a name decision for this
award would be optimal. Discussion commenced it was determined that all nominations for the
name were to be sent to Commissioner Warren; then once compiled the CBC could vote upon at
next months CBC meeting.
City Public Works "Advanced gradin variance re nest"u date
No report.
NEW BUSINESS:
CSC Business Cards:
Commissioner Warren noted she had copies of previously discussed business cards that could be
sent out. It was thought that Chair Wiedower had agreed to print the business cards.
Commissioner Minor inquired about the procedures for spending of the Tree Fund monies. It
was noted that Jerry Paul in the Finance Department would be familiar with any processes. It
was determined the CBC may be in need of a Tree Fund Committee; perhaps, Commissioner
Minor could head this committee. Per the new ordinance revision the Finance Department is to
provide the CBC with an annual fiscal report. It was determined the Planning Department and
the Finance Department need to collaborate on procedure(s). Commissioner Minor believes the
funds should be spent promptly; getting trees planted. 'trice -chair Dicker noted that
Commissioner Minor could report back to the CBC next month, in twenty-five (25) words or less
what he'd found out. It was noted the ordinance only specifies the trees must be planted in the
same section as the fund donation and in collaboration with the City Urban Forester.
ADJOURNMENT:
Motion: Commissioner Young made a motion to adjourn.
Second: Commissioner Bell seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:26 p.m.
