Welcome New Members: Dottie welcomed Billie Callaway to the City Beautiful
Commission.
Discussion: Dottie asked Bryan Day, Director, Little Rock Parks & Recreation to
discuss the proposed merger of the City Beautiful Commission and the Arts and
Humanities Commission. For the benefit of the new members, Bryan discussed the
proposed merger. He pointed out that with the new ordinances, the City Beautiful
Commission would become mostly regulatory and that Little Rock Parks and Recreation
is not regulatory. His recommendation will be that the City Beautiful Commission be
moved to the Planning and Development Department. Bryan Day and Scott Carter then
left the meeting.
Commission members continued to discuss the proposed merger and the proposed move
to the Planning Department. Commissioners discussed ways to compromise that would
make everyone happy. They decided to discuss this issue further at Retreat.
