The City Beautiful Commission held its regular meeting Thursday, November 2
11:30 a.m. in the Sister Cities Conference Room at City Hall. Meeting was
order by Chair Dottie Funk.

Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the October 5, 2000, meeting were approved as
distributed.
Treasurer's Report: Current balance: $2,486.06 as of November 1. Designated for
fountain $1,098.50, designated for festival $1,000, leaving $387.56 for operating..
Reports of Committees
Land Alteration Task Force — No report.
Festival — Tim Heiple suggested that the festival be postponed until 2002.
Gateway Project — Randy Stocks and Nash Abrams will speak to the Downtown
Partnership Physical Planning Committee on November 16 at 4:00 p.m. to encourage
the Downtown Partnership to embrace the gateway concept and move forward with
this project.

• Landscape Awards — Gayle reported that she had sent the ballots (See attached) out
but had only received 2 or 3 back. Members completed their ballots. There was a
three way tie in the category of "Voluntary Upgrading of Existing Sites". The tie was
broken. The following were announced as the 2000 Landscape Awards recipients.

The awards presentation will be on at the December 5 Board of Directors meeting.
The Commission agreed to host a reception in the city hall rotunda at 5:30 p.m. for
the recipients.

Karol Zoeller moved that the current officers remain in place for the year 2001.
Motion seconded by Tim Heiple. Motion carried unanimously. Officers for 2001

Miscellaneous Business
Summit Mall. Dottie told Commission members that the Summit Mall had be
granted a variance to the excavation ordinance and asked if the Commission should
write a letter to the Board of Directors objecting to the variance. Karol Zoeller
moved that a letter be sent to the Board of Directors objecting to the ordinance.
Motion was seconded by Tim Heiple. Motion carried.
