City Beautiful Commission + 500 West Markham, Room 108 + Little Rock, AR 72201 + (501) 371-4770 The City Beautiful Commission held its regular meeting Thursday, December 7, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sister Cities Conference Room at City Hall. Meeting was called to order by Chair Dottie Funk. Members Present: Nash Abrams Tim Heiple Randy Stocks Dottie Funk Troy Laha Ann Ivey Sharon Vogelpohl Also Present: Bob Brown, Plans Review Specialist, Planning Department Gayle Owens, Admin. Asst., Parks and Recreation Scott Carter. Cultural Affairs Administrator Welcome New Members: Dottie introduced three new members to the City Beautiful Commission; Troy Laha, Anne Ivey, and Sharon Vogelpohl. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the November 2, 2000, meeting were approved as distributed. Treasurer's Report: Current balance: $2,488.52 as of December 7. Designated for fountain $1,098.50, designated for festival $1,000, leaving $390.02 for operating. Reports of Committees • Festival — Tim Heiple after giving the new members a brief background on the festival said that the festival is on hold until we know more about the proposed merger of Arts and Humanities and City Beautiful. • Gateway Project — Nash reported that he and Randy had met with the Downtown Partnership and were well received. He said they were interested in the Gateway Project and it is possible to resurrect it. The City Beautiful Commission was invited to send a representative to the Downtown Partnership Committee. Old Business • Landscape Awards. Gayle reported that the plaques were ordered, invitations sent, board members notified, letters sent to all recipients, refreshments ordered (fruit and cheese tray, hot cider and cookies). She also said that Scott had prepared a power point presentation. The commission members discussed asking the mayor and board members to help make presentations. It was decided that the board members would not want to come
