CBC 01-07-1998CITY BEAUTIFUL C O M M I S S 1 O N 500 WEST MARKHAM ROOM 108 Minutes January 7, 1998 Call to Order: The City Beautiful Commission held its monthly meeting on Thursday, LITTLE ROCK, AR 72201 January 7, 1998, in the Sister City Conference Room. The meeting was called to order at 8:20 a.m. by Chairman Frank Riggens. (501) 371-4770 Approval of Minutes: Minutes approved as they are. ❑ Discussion of recent Light Up Little Rock. Live trees were planted at the two Police Sub -Stations and the South of Broadway Alert Center. The public participated at each site by decorating the trees. The Commission considered the event a success, and is looking forward to 1998. ❑ Public hearing for Landscape Variance Ordinance at 9800 Nash Lane. Reverend Tony Minick represented the applicant. The applicant has asked for a five year delay in the required landscaping for the expansion and a five year delay in improving the current landscaping. Applicant requested the delay in landscaping to accommodate a need to increase numbers within the congregation. Raising funds for the project is a necessity. The applicant also noted that the facility is in a somewhat "rural' situation. Phase II of the project should be completed by spring 1998. Motion made to bring landscaping up to complete ordinance specifications by December 1, 1998. Motion seconded. Motion passed. Old Business: ❑ Reviewed financial report and 1997 expenditures. Need to forward bank statements to Randy Stocks. ❑ Retreat on January 18 at 1:00 at Dottie Funk's house. Members are invited to lunch at 12:00. All but two members will be able to attend. ❑ Commission discussed recruiting indivival to fill vacancy on commission. Will recruit at neighborhood connections, New Business: Parks and Recreation will store lights at River Market Pavilion.
