CBC 04-11-1995The City Beautiful Commission The City Beautiful Commission held its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 11, 1995 in the City Board Conference Room, 2nd Floor of City Hall. A public hearing was held before the regular meeting. The meeting was called to order by Lin Blair, Chairman at 10:00 a.m. Members Present: Lin Blair Jo Rancifer Joyce Raynor Frank Riggins Steve Cato Also Present: Bob Brown, Plans & Review Specialist, Neighborhoods & Planning Mark Webre, Project & Design Manager, Parks & Recreation Director Linda Joyce I. Roll Call - Five members present II. Approval of Minutes - Minutes not available at this meeting III. Treasurer's Report - No report at this meeting IV. City Beautiful League - Interviews conducted on April 22 and 29 as follows: Lin Blair (29), Jo Rancifer (22), Joyce Raynor (22), and Frank Riggins (29) Discussion of new logo and name followed and ended with a motion to use new logo and name for 1996, thereby reducing existing stock of letterhead and allowing appropriate time to begin next year in timely fashion. Motion carried. It was also discussed that Channel 11 could potentially provide public relations interview of City Beautiful Kids and that their work schedule and location be made available to Channel 11 in order for this to occur. 500 West Markham, Room 108 Little Rock, AR 72201 371-4770 Minutes April 11, 1995 Meeting Page 2 The Commission asked that the City Beautiful Commission proposed logo be presented at the May 9th meeting. V. Projects for 1995 - Lin Blair reminded the Commission of the "Polish the Rock" concept in which commissioners would be able to recognize City Beautiful accomplishments made by citizens on an impromptu notice. It was moved that this concept be adopted as a program of the City Beautiful Commission. Motion carried Commissioners asked that arrangements be made for award and recognition by May 9 meeting. Lin Blair continued on another 1995 Project in which commissioners would meet with Neighborhood Associations as a means to hear citizens concerns for improving the beauty of the city. Commissioners expressed approval of this idea. One positive point of the program is it's ability to provide the Commission more presence than exists currently. VI. Lighting Contest - No report. VIL Parks and Recreation Update - Mark Webre noted that Riverfest Amphitheater fence and crowd control projects is on time and scheduled to be completed for the April 29th concert. VIII. Miscellaneous - Mark Webre presented and discussed further the Parks Departments desire to solicit Commission support on an Open -Space/ Greenway Ordinance for the City of Little Rock. Mark passed out highlighted documents explaining examples and benefits of such an ordinance. Due to the breadth and complexity of this subject, Commissioners asked Mr. Webre to prepare and present a slide presentation that might help clarify what opportunities are available with an Open-Space/Greenway System. IX. Adjournment - It was moved that the meeting be adjourned Motion carried.
