City Beautiful Kids: Truman Tolefree, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, attended the meeting to discuss City Beautiful Kids Environmental Youth Team program. Truman repotted that in 1986 when the program was implemented funding of $120,000 was received from JTPA for approximately 120 kids. In addition to that amount, donations of approximately $15,000 was received from the private sector for a total of $135,000. However, due to federal cut backs each year since the implementation the program has suffered reduction in funding resulting in the reduction of how many kids can be approved to participate in this program. For example, last year the funding would only support 60 to 80 kids. 'This year MA has informed us that due to drastic federal funding cut backs, they would not be able to support the program at all. However, the city has made a commitment to liter control therefore giving the program a brief reprieve.
