Kerr, Reporter for the Democrat Jerry Donoho, Reporter for the Gazette A quorum was present and the chairman called the meeting to order An advertised public hearing was held on the following dockets: Docket No. 46-61 Applicant: Location: Description: Classification: Variance: Mrs. Sarah Jones 120 Normandy Road Lot 79 and the SW 1/2 of 781, "A" One -family District From the side yard provisions Ordinance No. 5420, to permit bathroom and bedroom Normandy Addition of Section 11, construction of Mr. Bill Terry, attorney, was present. He said he did not actually represent Mrs. Jones, but was present more or less as a favor. He stated that he had represented her in the past. Mr. Breckling complied with his request for an explanation of why the waiver was necessary when she is not in violation of the zoning ordi- nance. He said the existing house was constructed too close to the side property line, which necessitated the waiver. Mr. Lloyd McCain was present and said he objected to a variance of any kind. He said the proposed extension would block out the light and view of Mr. Koontz°s tan ajoining property owner) sun parlor. He said if no variance was necessary and the house was constructed in violation, then he and the neighbors had no grounds to object. In executive session Mr. Marak moved it be approved, Miss Pentoi, seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Page 2 of 3 Docket No. 47-61 Applicant: Dr. W. E. Robbins Location: #5 Amarillo Circle Description: Lots 21 and 22, Plaza Heights Addition Classification: "A" One -family District Variance: From the front yard provisions of Section 11, Ordinance No. 5420, to permit construction of residence 10 feet from the property.lino.: Mr. Hunt and Dr. Robbins were present. They said the request for the variance was in order that the house could be built closer to the front property line, due to the terrain of the lot. Dr. Robbins had a list of the property owners who were willing to amend the Bill of Assurance of Plaza Heights. No objectors were present. In executive session Miss Penton moved that it be approved. Mr. Marak seconded and the motion carried unanimously. No objectors were present. Docket No. 48-61 Applicant: Mr. Ed Penick Location: 2804 North Taylor Street Description: The north 30 feet of lot 8 and the south 35 feet of 9, block 169 Parkview Addition Classification: "A" One -family District Variance: From the front yard provisions of Section 11, Ordinance No. 5420, to permit extension and enclosure of an open porch and fallout shelter under the porch Mr. Ed Penick was present. Mr. Brecklin g explained his request. No objectors were present. In executive session Mr. Marak moved it be approved, Miss Penton seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Docket -No. 49-61 Applicant: L. J. Gillespie Location: 2900 Forth Pierce Street Description: Lot 7, block 11, Parkview Addition Classification: "B" Residence District Variance: From the side yard provisions of Section 11, Ordinance No. 54209 to permit construction of a double carport, one bedroom and one bathroom Mr. Gillespie was present. The existing building was constructed coo close to the side property line, therefore, a waiver was necessary in order to add to the house. Page 3of3 Two adjacent property owners were present. The staff explained the application to them. They said they had received the notice of the meeting only the Saturday before and that some of the other owners had also. They felt that this was not enough time for them to get all the facts of the case. Some of the property owners were out of town. In executive session no action was taken. It was postponed until the December 18th meeting. Docket No. 50-61 Applicant: Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Ward Location: 1622-1624 Dennison Street Description: The south 100 feet of lots 11 and 12, block 14, Park Addition Classification: "C" Two-family District Variance: From the front and rear yard provisions of Section 11, Ordinance No. 5420, to permit con- struction of an open carport Mr. and Mrs. Ward were not present. There were no objections to this application and in executive session the Board felt it was a reasonable request. Miss Penton moved that it be approved, Mr. Marak seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Docket No. 51-61 Applicant: Hillcrest Business and Professional Association Location: 710 North Beech Street Description: Block 52, Pulaski Heights Classification: "D" Apartment District Variance: Requesting permission to construct a parking lot in a restricted district in accordance with Section 18-4, Ordinance No. 5420 Mr. Arthur Mills was present to represent the applicant. He said as many trees as possible would be left on the lot and that it would be blacktopped. In executive session Mr. Marak moved it be approved, provided they comply with the zoning ordinance, Miss Penton seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 2:50 P. M.
