Kerr, Reporter for the Democrat The meeting was called to order and an advertised public tjj hearing was held on the following dockets: Docket. No,_29-61 t4 Applicant: G. L. P,edlock Location: The northeast corner of 6th and I"lartin Streets Description: Lots 7, 8, and 9, block 1, C. 0. Kimball and Bodeman Addition Classification: "B" Residence District Variance: From the side yard provisions of Section 11 00 to permit construction of a single family house Mr. and Mrs. Iedlock were present. This application was first heard at the meeting held on July 17, 1961, at which time the staff asked Mr. Medlock to submit a revised plan. N!r. Medlock worked with the staff and complied with this request. He stated that he had nothing to say about it at this meeting. I-"r. Strickland, a property owner in the vicinity said he was present to review the request, not to object, especially. He was given a sketch of the plan. Mr. Meeks told him the meeting would go on while he looked at it, then if he had any comments the Board would hear them. Mr. Strickland looked at the plans, then left the meeting without making any comments. Mr. Iieeks asked IIr. Medlock if this would be all new construction? The answer was yes and he added that it 'would be brick veneer. In executive session Mr. I'leeks moved that this request be ap- proved provided the house is all rei4 construction and brick veneered, ® Mr. I-iarak seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 10 >. d LIJ - -' Page 2 of 4 Docket No. 30-61 Applicant: Location: Description: Classification: Variance: Lewis Storthz 7417 Rockwood Street Lot 334 Kingwood Place "A" One -family District From the rear yard provisions of Section 11 to permit extension of a bedroom Mr. Breckling explained this request to the Board. Mr. Sam Storthz was present for his brother, who was out of town. No objectors were present. In executive session, Mr. Marak moved that this application be approved. Mr. Meeks seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. Docket No. 31-61 Applicant: J. E. Bush Location: 1524 Ringo Street Description: Lot 7, and the south 1/2 of 8, block 281, Original City Classification: "C" Two-family District Variance: From all applicable provisions of Section 11 to permit construction of an open carport Mr. Bush was present. He wants to build to within three feet of the property line and tie into the existing building. He lives in the front of the building and rents the back. Mr. Marak asked Mr. Bush how his neighbors to the north feel about it? He said his neighbors to the north had not given him any objections. Mr. Bush indicated that he had reviewed this matter with the Housing Authority, and they had no objection to this proposal. He is now parking his car on the concrete slab. The concrete slab for the storage room is already there, also. He said both structures meet the requirements of the zoning ordinance. In executive session Mr. Meeks moved that the request be granted provided he does not build the storage room and makes the carport an open one, Mr. Marak seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Docket No__I 61 Applicant: James B. Finley Location: 304 McMillen Trail Description: Tract 15, Ranch Hill Addition Classification: "A" One -family District Variance: From the side yard provisions of Section 11 to permit erection of an open, double carport Page 3 of 4- Er. Finley was present. He said he wants to remove the roof of the existing carport and extend it to make a double carport with one being under the roof of the house. Mr. P11arak asked 1-ir. Finley if the neighbors to the east objected? Mr. Finley answered no. In executive session Mr. Marak moved that it be approved on condition that he clear himself with the bill of assurance for this addition by contacting the property owners and having the bill of assurance amended and provided the carport is an open one. Mr. Meeks seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Docket No. 24-61 Applicant: B. J. Block Location: 708 Wright Avenue Description: Long legal Classification: "C" Two-family. District Variance: From the rear yard provisions of Section 11 to permit construction of a bedroom This docket was filed for the meeting on July 17, 1961, but was not heard because the notice of hearing had not been returned. The notice was returned, properly signed, and the case was heard at this time. There was no one present to speak for the application and no objectors were present. Mr. Breckling explained the sketch to the Board and pointed out that the house is already too close to the property line at one point. In executive session Mr. Marak moved that the application be approved, Mr. Peeks seconded and the motion carried unanimously. AMENDMENT Docket No. 4.8- 59 Applicant: Oak Forest Methodist Church by William Shaffer Location: 25th and Fair 'ark Boulevard Description! Lots 3 through 10, block 50, Cherry and Cox Addition Classification: "B" Residence District Variance: From all applicable provision of Section 11 to permit construction of an educational building The church has found that their new building will not provide the necessary classroom space as they had hoped; therefore, they are asking that the twenty by forty (20 x 4.0) church school building on lot five (5) remain on the property and that the parking area be arranged to provide the necessary parking. Cb Ld 60 M As soon as the new building is finished the Board would like to see the building at the northwest corner of ',Test 25th and Tyler Streets removed, and then look at the tract in question as related to the building the church desired to retain. The Church Building Committee was asked to notify the staff when this building would.be removed in order that this matter could be considered by the Board at a subsequent meeting. The staff was instructed to advertise this for public hearing at the September a meeting. GOLDMAN & COMPANY REQUEST Mr. Yandell Johnson, architect, was present to review a request for a waiver of more than one main structure on one lot with the Board for Goldman & Company, Incorporated at the southeast corner of East 13th Street and Baxter Street. I°1r. Goldman was forced to move from 0 his old location by the construction of the Third Bridge Expressway and it is imperative that he get started on this building as soon as possible. ;0 After study and discussion of the plans which were presented, Mr. Marak moved that it be advertised for a public hearing at a called meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 5, 1961, at 2:00 P.M. provided he revise his plans to set back five (5) feet from Baxter Street, file and application, and notify the property owners within Q 140 feet of the proi�erty line of the date of the meeting. Er. Meeks CL seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The staff was instructed to tell the applicant that the five (5) foot setback is cb for his future investment and safety of his buildings.
