There being a quorum, the meeting was called to order at 2:00 P. M. The minutes
of the last meeting were approved as mailed.
Action was taken on the following applications for Variance: -
Item No. 1 - (Z-1710)
Applicant: Zatches Allen
Locati on:- 1518 Martin Street
Description: Lot 5, Block 31, Jones and Worthen's Addn.
Classification: "B"-Resi'dence District
-Variance: Requests a Variance from the Side Yard Provisions
of Section 43-12 of Code of Ordinances to permit
addition to existing residence.
There was no one present to represent this application, nor any objectors. A
motion was made for approval of this Variance, which was seconded and passed
unanimously.

Item No. 2 - (Z-1709)
Applicant: Cosmopolitan Apartments, Inc.
Location: 3800 Block of Kavanaugh Boulevard
Description: All of Tract A, Allsopp Valley Subdivision
Classification: ID" -Apartment District
Variance:, Requests a Variance from the main structure
provisions of Section 43-2-5 and.Section 43-20-2F
of the Code of Ordinances to permit construction
of two apartment buildings and parking in Front
Yard Setback
Mr. H. Lynn Wassell, Jr. Architect, was present representing the owner, and
Mr. Yandell Johnson, Architect, was present as an objector seeking information.
After much discussion by thelarchitectexplaining various facts about the
development plan, and questions asked by Mr. Johnson as to the width of the
access road pertaining to servicing the area by the Fire Department and other
service vehicles, Mr. Kuehnert suggested that it was apparent that the applica-
tion will have to be readvertised and proper notices sent to adjacent property
owners, as the applicant failed to cite the appropriate paragraph of the Code
of Ordinances for Variance desired in the notice to adjacent property owners.
He also stated that the Board was favorable and would be willing to hold a
special meeting on October 5th In view of this problem, and that the Board would
like to have more details as to the access road.
A motion was made that a special meeting be held on October 5th to reconsider
this application, which was seconded and passed unanimously.
Item No. 3 - (Z-1704)
Applicant: Mrs. R. C. Kory
Location: 5808 North Country Club Boulevard
Description: Lot-49, Forest Heights Place Addn.
Classification: "A" -One -family District
Variance: Requests a Variance from the Side Yard
requirements of Section 43-12 of the Code of
Ordinances to permit addition to existing
structure
Mrs. R. C. Kory was present in the interest of this application. There were no
objectors. A motion was made for approval of this Variance, which was seconded
and passed unanimously.
Item No. 4 - (Z-1716)-:-
Applicant: Southland Development and Winrock Enterprises, Inc.
Location: Soutlrridge Road and Highway No. 10
"Description: Long Legal
Classification: "A" -One -family District
Variance: Requests a -Variance from the Use Provisions of
Section 43-22-4-C and Section 43-3-8 of Code of
Ordinances to permit the construction of an'
information office and the erection of a sign.
Mr. Harry Pittard was present to represent this application, but had to leave before
its hearing due to a prior engagement. A motion was made for approval of the

Variance which included the construction and placement of a sign as detailed
in the filed plan and the location of an information office limiting its use
thereat, as shown in the filed plan, to a period of one year subject to extension
thereof upon request of the applicant. Also that Mr. de Noble approve the loca-
tion of the lights which would go on the signs. The motion was seconded and
passed unanimously.
Tract No. 5 - - (Z-1706)
Applicant: West Markham Street Baptist Church

Rev. Ray Branscum, Pastor of the Church, - anal Mr. Morris Smith, architect were
present, to represent this application. A motion was made to grant thi.s..Variance
subject to the completion of items set out in a letter of September 26,1963,
from the Department of Community Development, and that a building permit would
be issued when this is done. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Tract No. 6 - (Z-1473)
Applicant: Southwestern Bell Telephone Company
Location: 5805 West 65th Street
Description: East 200-feet of Plot 8, Commonwealth Addn.
Classification: "A"- One -family District
Variance: Requests authority under the Provision 43-22
(4)(i) Code of Ordinances to permit expansion
of a utility in a residential zone.
A representative of the Southwesternt Betl-Telephone Company was present. He
stated that due to the rapid growth in this area, it is again necessary to extend
the Locust Exchange, and are asking for a waiver to provide space to install
additional equiOlent. A motion was made --for -apprteval of th s -Variance, which was
seconded and passed unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:30P. M.
