3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO DELIVER
4 AN APPROPRIATION OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS
5 ($100,000.00), FOR THE DAISY BATES FOUNDATION; AND FOR
6 OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS,the 2022 Budget for the City of Little Rock,Arkansas("the City")was approved in Little
9 Rock,Ark., Ordinance No.22,079(December 21,2021)("LRP 22.079); and,
10 WHEREAS,although not expressly identified in Ordinance No. 22,079,the 2022 Budget includes an
11 intent of the City to appropriate One Hundred Thousand Dollars($100,000.00)to the L.C. & Daisy Bates
12 Museum Foundation,Inc.("the Foundation"),to be used in its efforts to rehabilitate and maintain the home
13 of Mr. and Mrs.Bates,due to the historic significance it has with the Little Rock Central National Historic
14 Site,which is operated by the National Park Service; and,
15 WHEREAS,the Foundation oversees the home of Mr.and Mrs.Bates which,among other things,was
16 an essential meeting place for the nine(9)students who courageously agreed to integrate Little Rock Central
17 High School in 1957, and therefore, this home is not only a precious treasure of the City, but also of the
18 United States;and,
19 WHEREAS,authorization to send this money now provides the Foundation with the flexibility to work
20 on its various projects at the house.
21 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to transfer the sum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars
24 ($100,000.00) from monies approved in Ordinance No. 22,079 as part of the 2022 City Budget to the L.C.
25 &Daisy Bates Museum Foundation,Inc., for its work in the rehabilitation and preservation of the home of
26 Mr.and Mrs. Bates,a National Historic Landmark located at 1207 West 28th Street,Little Rock,Arkansas.
27 Section 2. Funds for this payment are available in Account No 108129-S10C342 Daisy Bates House
28 2021.
29 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
30 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
31 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
32 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
33 resolution.

1 Section 4.Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with
2 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency including, but not
3 limited to, Little Rock, Ark., Resolution No. 15,390(October 6,2020)..
