3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT
5 TO CONTINUE A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM IN
6 THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT, BEGINNING OCTOBER 1,
7 2005, AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2006.

9 WHEREAS, the Police Department and the District initiated this School Resource
10 Officer Program in 1992 with (1) officer; and
11 WHEREAS, the program now includes ten (10) officers and a sergeant with
12 assignments in each Little Rock high school; and
13 WHEREAS, the contract has been updated to include reimbursement provisions
14 pertaining to school calendar days and paid leave; and
15 WHEREAS, the School District reimburses the City for one -half (50 %) of the
16 salary, benefits, overtime, and compensatory time for the School Resource Officers
17 (SRO) while school is in session.
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
19 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
20 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with the
21 Little Rock School District to continue a School Resource Officer Program in the Little
22 Rock School District beginning October 1, 2005, and ending September 30, 2005, with
23 the option to renew for two (2) additional terms.
24 Section 2. Reimbursements for the 2005 -2006 school year are estimated at
25 $262,000.00.
26 Section 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
27 adoption.
