15380 1 RESOLUTION NO. 15,380 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO APPROPRIATE FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS 4 ($50,000.00) TO THE OAKLAND & FRATERNAL HISTORIC 5 CEMETERY PARK; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 6 7 WHEREAS,the Oakland & Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park ("Oakland Cemetery") is a Cemetery 8 owned by the City of Little Rock,Arkansas; and, 9 WHEREAS, the Oakland Cemetery takes care of its grounds maintenance expenses from Perpetual 10 Care, but there have been a number of graves in the past that did not pay Perpetual Care, and in the past 11 few years there have been extraordinary expenses such as Mausoleum renovation, tree removal, a water 12 line installation, a septic tank installation, truck repairs and the replacement of an entrance gate to the 13 Cemetery; and, 14 WHEREAS, although the Oakland Cemetery receives annual income from Cemetery lot sales, 15 funerals, rental income, small donations and historical tours of the Cemetery, the Oakland Cemetery is in 16 need of assistance to financially meet its operating expenses for 2021; and, 17 WHEREAS, Oakland Cemetery has requested an appropriation from the City in order to assist with 18 meeting these operating expenses for the Cemetery's 2021 Fiscal Year. 19 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 20 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 21 Section 1. The City appropriates the sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) to the Oakland 22 Cemetery to assist the Cemetery in meeting its operating expenses for the 2021 Fiscal Year. 23 Section 2.Funding for this appropriation is available from the General Fund. 24 Section 3. Severability. In the event any section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase or word of 25 this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication 26 shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and effect as if the 27 portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally part of this resolution. 28 Section 4. Repealer.
