3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE INSTALLATION OF VETERANS
4 MEMORIAL BRIDGE SIGNAGE ON THE BROADWAY STREET
5 BRIDGE (U.S. HIGHWAY 70); AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

7 WHEREAS,on April 6, 2017, the Broadway Street (U.S. Highway 70) Bridge was dedicated
8 in honor of those who have served in the Armed Forces as the Veterans Memorial Bridge by the
9 Arkansas State Highway Commission;and,
10 WHEREAS, as part of the dedication, signs are to be installed on each end of the bridge, which
11 memorialize the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces (see sign image attached
12 hereto as Exhibit A);and,
13 WHEREAS,Arkansas State Highway Commission policy requires that the Board of Directors of the
14 City of Little Rock adopt a resolution authorizing the installation of signage to illustrate the City of Little
15 Rock's support for the memorialization of the Veterans Memorial Bridge;
16 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
17 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
18 Section 1. That a memorial sign with the wording"Veterans Memorial Bridge"be installed on the City
19 of Little Rock side of the Broadway Street (U.S.Highway 70) Bridge in support of the bridge's dedication
20 as the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
21 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
22 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
23 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
24 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
25 ordinance.
26 Section 3. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, which are inconsistent
27 with the provisions of this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
