3 A RESOLUTION TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THAT PORTION OF
4 WEST 5TH STREET, LOCATED WEST OF SOUTH RODNEY PARHAM
5 ROAD, TO WEST CAPITOL AVENUE (G-25-222); AND FOR OTHER
6 PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, -pursuant to Little Rock, Ark., Rev. Code § 31-324 (1988), the Public Works
9 Department, has filed a petition to change the name of that portion of West 5th Street, located west of
10 South Rodney Parham Road to West Capitol Avenue, to eliminate confusion regarding the conflicting •
11 with Capitol Avenue; and,
12 WHEREAS, eliminating confusion regarding the conflicting street name will benefit emergency
13 service providers including Little Rock Police Department,Little Rock Fire Department and MEMS; and,
14 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Planning Commission, at its August 23, 2018, meeting, voted to
15 recommend approval of the proposed street name change with a vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent.
16 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
17 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS.
18 Section 1. The name of that portion of West 56 Street, located west of South Rodney Parham Road,
19 is hereby changed to West Capitol Avenue.
20 Section 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and the City
21 Manager is hereby directed to notify all departments of said change.
22 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
23 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
24 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
25 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
26 resolution.
27 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent
28 with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
