14878 1 RESOLUTION NO. 14,878 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A THIRD EXTENSION OF THE CONTRACT WITH VSP, IN AN 5 AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-FIVE 6 THOUSAND DOLLARS ($135,000.00),FOR GROUP VISION INSURANCE 7 FOR A PERIOD BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2019, TO DECEMBER 31, 8 2019; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS,the City provides certain Group Vision Insurance benefits for its employees, and after a 11 competitive selection process it was determined that the most qualified applicant with the best overall rate 12 to provide such insurance for current City employees is VSP; and, 13 WHEREAS, the basic cost of such coverage to the City will not exceed One Hundred Thirty-Five 14 Thousand Dollars($135,000.00)and will allow for an additional 100 new employees in 2019. 15 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 16 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 17 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to amend Little Rock, Ark., 14,446 (November 1, 2016) 18 to extend the agreement with VSP for Group Vision Insurance for the third period of January 1, 2019, to 19 December 31,2019,in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars($135,000.00), 20 which will provide coverage to existing employees of the City and allow for an increase of 100 new 21 employees in 2019. 22 Section 2. Funds for this contract extension will be available from a line item for Group Vision 23 Insurance in the 2019 Budget, Account No. 53400. 24 Section 3. Pursuant to approval by the City, this contract may be extended four(4) additional times 25 for four(4)additional years in accordance with the renewal clause in the original agreement. 26 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 27 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 28 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 29 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 30 resolution. 31 Section 5. Repealer.
