LITTLE ROCK HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING
NOVEMBER 5, 1992
5:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman John Bush. A
quorum was present - Mr. John Bush, Mr. Carl Menyhart, Ms. Jeanette
Heinbockel. City Attorney Peggy Johnson was present.
Item #1 - Owner: Karol and Mark Zoeller
Location: 500 East 9th Street
Request: Install fence
Karol and Mark Zoeller were present and explained their fence
application to the Commission. The fence was described as a 6 foot
picket fence with a 3/4 inch space in between each picket. It will
be placed along the sidewalk on Commerce Street and set back 25
feet from the property line on 8th Street. A discussion followed.
Commissioner Heinbockel made a motion to approve the application
pending City Code approval. Commissioner Menyhart seconded. The
vote was taken. Motion carried. All ayes.
A discussion of the proposed Post Office site on Capitol Avenue
followed. Cheryl Nichols, Quapaw Quarter Association Director, was
present and voiced her concerns with the site's impact on the
MacArthur Park Historic District. The Commission agreed to write
the Postal Service and request a meeting.
Ms. Nichols also presented three prospective CLG projects:
1) Phase II, Central High Neighborhood Survey, 2) Windshield
survey /research on Little Rock's historic black neighborhood and
3) Historic house markers.
Peggy Johnson stated that she had spoken with AP &L concerning tree
trimming in the Historic District and that she would set up a
meeting at the Commission's request.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
