HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
OCTOBER 26, 1981
4:00 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: MR. JOHN JARRARD, CHAIRMAN
MS. BETH FOTI
MR. GEORGE WORTHEN
MEMBERS ABSENT: MR. LONNIE POWERS
MR. SAM STRAUSS, JR.
STAFF PRESENT: MR. MIKE DOOLEY
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 4:05 P.M. and find-
ing a Quorum, the Commission moved to accept the Minutes of the previous
meeting as recorded.
The only application for a Certificate of Appropriateness was announced
as:
Case #HDC 002
Owner: Mr. and Ms. Leonard Hollinger
Applicant: Mr. Jimmy Morgan
Location: 1020 Commerce Street
Request: To erect an open carport canopy on west side of residence.
Required notification to the area of influence was found to be in
compliance.
Mr. Jimmy Morgan was present and described the size, location and
materials to be used for the project.
Mr. Ralph Megna was present representing the Quapaw Quarter Association
and stated that his organization was not in opposition to the request.
There were no objectors present.
Mr. George Worthen moved to approve the application as requested and
ANEK Ms. Beth Foti seconded the motion.
The application was approved by a unanimous vote of the Historic District
Commission present.
In other matters, the Commission requested information concerning a
proposed sign for Acchione and King, Attorneys at Law, located at 411 E. 6th
Street. At this time, the Commission is on record in the City Manager's
office and in the Public Works Department as opposing any franchises for signs
in the public right-of-way. The owners have filed the application for the
franchise although a public hearing has not been set. We will be informed if
the current situation changes.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
