P.1
This was the first meeting in several months for this
Commission and much of the discussion centered around the
existing State of Affairs, including:
Finances
It was reported that this Commission has a balance of $767.00.
This money has been available from the Community Development
Block Grant Funds since the last Financial Report in October,
1977.
The Commission was advised that the Quapaw Quarter association
was holding $165.00 of National Trust monies which may be
available to this Commission. A unanimous vote was cast to
request Quapaw Quarter Association to keep the money on hand,
rather than retun it to the Trust, as we may utilize it for
advertising or information guides.
Structure Survey Guide
A printed survey of the significant (priority 1) structures
within our boundaries is nearing completion and should be
available within a few months.
General Discussion
There was a brief overview of where the Commission stands in
terms of signatures on the petition. This discussion included
the question of whether this Commission wants to move forward
with the drive for our existing boundaries or change the boundary
and reorganize another attempt. It was pointed out that the
steps associated with such an effort might include:
. Rewrite the Ordinance to reflect new boundary line.
. Reorganize Commission membership criteria should we
attempt more than one area.
. Recirculate petitions for adoption of new or amended
Ordinance.
It was agreed that a work session was needed to take a closer
look at our current condition. At that time, we will try to
locate ownership changes, unsolicited owners, and try to get
a true percentage of secured signatures on the petition. This
work session will take place at City Hall on Wednesday, February
21st, 1979 at 6 :00 p.m.
Election of Officers
Mr. John Jarrard was elected by unanimous vote, Chairman of the
Historic District Commission for 1979. Mr. Sam Strauss, Jr. was
likewise elected Vice - Chairman.
