3 A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
4 NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES TO CONDUCT A CITYWIDE
5 CAMPAIGN TO ADDRESS HUNGER; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

7 WHEREAS, The National League of Cities, in partnership with Food Research and Action Center,
8 selected the City of Little Rock as one (1) of fourteen (14) cities to participate in CHAMPS: Cities
9 Combating Hunger Leadership Academy that was held last month. Little Rock was chosen due to the
10 commitment of City Leadership to reduce hunger for families, the ability of its partners to strengthen
11 meal programs, and the ability of the City to develop a strong citywide campaign that encourages the
12 entire community to act; and,
13 WHEREAS,a Multidisciplinary Ad Hoc Committee was formed to guide the City's efforts to obtain
14 a grant from the National League of Cities to develop a strategic plan for children to have consistent
15 access to healthy meals at no cost; and,
16 WHEREAS,there is an opportunity to apply to the National League of Cities grant application for up
17 to One.Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars($150,000.00).
18 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY '
19 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
20 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby advocates its support for a grant application for One
21 Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00)to develop an Anti-Hunger Campaign which will expand
22 the Out-of-School Meal Programs.
23 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
24 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
25 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
26 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
27 resolution.
28 Section 3.Repealer. All laws, ordinances,resolutions,or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with
29 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
