3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD A
4 CONTRACT TO JCON CONSTRUCTION, INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT
5 TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN THOUSAND, SIX
6 HUNDRED EIGHTY-EIGHT DOLLARS ($167,688.00), FOR VALENTINE
7 STREET RECONSTRUCTION; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

9 WHEREAS, Bids were solicited for improvements on Valentine Street from Asher Avenue to 25th
10 Street,Project No. 16-1-ST-167,Bid No. 18011.
11 WHEREAS, JCON Construction, Inc., was the lowest responsive, responsible bid meeting
12 specifications.
13 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
14 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
15 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with JCON Construction,
16 Inc.,for Valentine Street Improvements from Asher Avenue to 25th Street in an amount not to exceed One
17 Hundred Sixty-Seven Thousand, Six Hundred Eighty-Eight and Dollars ($167,688.00), which is the base
18 bid amount of One Hundred Thirty-Nine Thousand,Seven Hundred Forty Dollars($139,740.00),plus 20%
19 contingencies.
20 Section 2. Funding for this project is from the 3/8-Cent Capital Improvement Sales and Compensating
21 Use Tax Funds as authorized by Resolution No. 14,310.
22 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
23 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
24 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
25 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the
26 resolution.
27 Section 4. Repealer.All laws, ordinances,resolutions,or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with
28 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
