14709 1 RESOLUTION NO. 14,709 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH MORRIS BECK CONSTRUCTION 5 SERVICES, INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SIXTY-ONE 6 THOUSAND DOLLARS ($61,000.00) TO PERFORM AN INTERIOR 7 REMODEL OF THE EXISTING EDUCATION BUILDING AT THE 8 LITTLE ROCK ZOO; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS, it has been determined that the current Education Building at the Little Rock Zoo needs 11 to be renovated into a themed Citizen Science Center to educate children of all ages; and, 12 WHEREAS,a themed Citizen Science Center will provide play research stations and opportunities to 13 experience nature and wildlife in an interactive environment; and, 14 WHEREAS,after proceeding with the competitive bidding process(Bid No. 13169),it was determined 15 that Morris Beck Construction Services, Inc., was the low bidder for the construction of the Education 16 Conservation Center Phase 1 Project, in the amount of Sixty-One Thousand Dollars($61,000.00); 17 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 18 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 19 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into agreements with to Morris Beck Construction 20 Services,Inc.,to perform the interior remodel of the existing Zoo Education Building for an amount not to 21 exceed Sixty-One Thousand Dollars($61,000.00). 22 Section 2. Funding for this project, and a possible Twelve Thousand, Two Hundred Dollars 23 ($12,200.00), if necessary for change orders, is available in Special Project Account No. 210659-72509 24 S65B627, provided that for any funding above Sixty-One Thousand Dollars($61,000.00),the monies will 25 come from Account No. 106570-61010. 26 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 27 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 28 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 29 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the 30 resolution. 31 Section 4. Repealer.
