14585 1 RESOLUTION NO. 14,585 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO 4 EXECUTE AN EXTENSION TO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH 5 THE CITY OF CABOT, ARKANSAS, GRANTING THE LITTLE ROCK 6 AMBULANCE AUTHORITY ("LRAA") D/B/A METROPOLITAN 7 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ("MEMS") AN EXCLUSIVE 8 FRANCHISE TO PROVIDE AMBULANCE SERVICES TO THE CITY OF 9 CABOT, ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 10 11 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors initially entered into an Interlocal Agreement with the City of 12 Cabot, Arkansas, pursuant to Little Rock, Ark., Resolution No. 12,006 (June 7, 2005), to permit the 13 exclusive provision of Emergency Medical Health Care Services by the Little Rock, Ark., Emergency 14 Medical Health Care Facilities Board,also known as the LRAA, and doing business as MEMS; and, 15 WHEREAS, there have been extensions of this Interlocal Agreement in Resolution No. 12,268 16 (December 18, 2007), Resolution No. 13,339 (July 5, 2011), and the execution of an extension in 2014; 17 and, 18 WHEREAS,the provisions of Resolution No. 12,613(November 20,2007)no longer apply to the City 19 of Cabot because the run volume does not necessitate an additional subsidy; and, 20 WHEREAS, both cities wish to formally extend this Interlocal Agreement for another three (3)-year 21 period; 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVE BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 23 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 24 Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to attest to and to sign an Interlocal Agreement 25 with the City of Cabot to authorize the a three(3)-year extension from the date of execution of the Interlocal 26 Agreement which provides MEMS exclusive authority to provide Emergency Medical Health Care Services 27 within the corporate limits of the City of Cabot. 28 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 29 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 30 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 31 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 32 resolution. 111 1Page 1 of 21 4 1 Section 3. Repealer.
