3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO A CONTRACT WILL BILL FENCING COMPANY,IN AN AMOUNT
5 NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE THOUSAND, SIX
6 HUNDRED SIXTEEN AND 40/100 DOLLARS ($253,616.40), TO
7 DEMOLISH EXISTING FENCING AND TO INSTALL NEW FENCING
8 FOR THE LION EXHIBIT AT THE LITTLE ROCK ZOO; AND FOR
9 OTHER PURPOSES.

11 WHEREAS,the current fencing for the Lion Exhibit at the Little Rock Zoo is eighteen(18)years old,
12 and the recent death of a Lion requires finding another Lion to maintain the social grouping necessary for
13 the health and welfare of the remaining Male Lion; and,
14 WHEREAS, to do so requires that the existing fencing to the exhibit be demolished, and that new
15 fencing be installed; and,
16 WHEREAS, to accomplish this project the City issued Bid No. 17117, and after a review of the two
17 (2) bids submitted it was determined that Bill Fencing Company provided the lowest responsive and
18 responsible bid of Two Hundred Eleven Thousand,Three Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars($211,347.00),and
19 from experience it is appropriate to authorize a 20%contingency payment for circumstances that could not
20 reasonably be foreseen at the time of bidding;
21 NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Bill Fencing Company in an
24 amount not to exceed Two Hundred Fifty-Three Thousand, Six Hundred Sixteen and 40/100 Dollars
25 ($253,616.40),including a 20%contingency for the Two Hundred Eleven Thousand,Three Hundred Forty-
26 Seven Dollars($211,347.00)successful competitive bid,to demolish the existing fencing and then to install
27 new fencing at the Lion Exhibit of the Little Rock Zoo.
28 Section 2. Funds for this contract are available in Capital Account Fund 326659-TS65A86.
29 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence,clause, phrase,or
30 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
31 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
32 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
33 resolution.

1 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same,that are inconsistent
2 with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
