142081 RESOLUTION NO. 14,208 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO RENEW 4 THE CONTRACT FOR LIFE INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR CITY 5 EMPLOYEES WITH METROPOLITAN LIFE FOR A ONE (1) -YEAR 6 PERIOD EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2016; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 7 8 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock provides Life Insurance coverage for all full-time eligible City 9 employees; and, 10 WHEREAS, Metropolitan Life has been the incumbent provider of both insurance provided by the 11 City and voluntary optional coverage paid by for by employees; and, 12 WHEREAS, Metropolitan Life has offered a renewal with that results in a total increase in cost of 13 Forty -Six Thousand Dollars ($46,000.00) per year which matches the rate of the first year of the policy; 14 and, 15 WHEREAS, Metropolitan Life has provided excellent service for employees and the families of 16 deceased employees; and, 17 WHEREAS, the proposed renewal represents the final year of the maximum contract period noted in 18 the most recent Request for Proposal. 19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 20 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 21 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to renew an agreement with Metropolitan Life to. provide 22 Life Insurance coverage for City employees for a one-year period effective January 1, 2016. 23 Section 2. Funds for this benefit are included in the 2016 Budget line item for life insurance coverage. 24 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 25 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 26 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 27 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 28 resolution. 29 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with 30 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. 31 ADOPTED: October 5, 2015 32 A _ .
