14001 1 RESOLUTION NO. 14,001 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR, CITY MANAGER 4 AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY 5 AGREEMENTS AND DOCUMENTS REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF 6 THE ARKANSAS VETERANS HOME PROPERTY; AND FOR OTHER 7 PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS, the City and the Housing Authority of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas d/b/a 10 Metropolitan Housing Alliance (MHA) have been concerned about the blighting influence of the old 11 Arkansas Veterans Home property located at 4701 West Charles Bussey Avenue, Little Rock, AR, 72204, 12 (the"Property")on the surrounding neighborhood residential areas, and, 13 WHEREAS, this Property is currently owned by the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs 14 ("ADVA"), and, 15 WHEREAS, the City and MHA wish to contract with the ADVA to purchase the Property and will 16 each pay ADVA Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) toward the aggregate purchase price of 17 Fifty Thousand Dollars($50,000.00), and, 18 WHEREAS,MHA will hold title to the Property and will maintain the Property, and, 19 WHEREAS, MHA will utilize the Property in MHA's plans and strategies for development of 20 affordable housing within the Central Little Rock area. 21 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 23 Section 1. The Mayor, City Manager and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute any and all 24 necessary agreements and documents regarding the purchase of the Arkansas Veterans Home 25 Property located at 4701 West Charles Bussey Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72204. 26 Section 2. The City of Little Rock will pay ADVA Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) 27 toward the aggregate purchase price of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) for the Property. MHA will 28 pay ADVA Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) toward the aggregate purchase price for the 29 Property and will hold title to and maintain the Property at MHA's sole cost and expense. MHA will 30 utilize the Property in MHA's plans and strategies for development of affordable housing within the 31 Central Little Rock area. 32 Section 3. Funding for this project is available from Accounting Unit 210359-S00B393. 'Page 1 of 21 1 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 2 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 3 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 4 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 5 resolution. 6 Section 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with 7 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. 8 Section 6.
