13955 1 RESOLUTION NO. 13,955 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF 4 LITTLE ROCK TO UTILIZE FEDERAL-AID FUNDS FOR 5 CONSTRUCTION OF THE UNIVERSITY AVENUE TRAFFIC SIGNAL 6 OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 7 8 WHEREAS, the Metroplan Board has recently approved Federal-Aid Transportation Funding 9 for a project to install adaptive signal control technology in the University Avenue corridor between 10 Interstate 30 and State Highway 10 (Cantrell Road); and, 11 WHEREAS, it is desirable to secure funding and install the system to provide for better traffic flow 12 and less delay for through the University Avenue corridor; 13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE 14 CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 15 Section 1. The City will participate in accordance with its designated responsibility in the University 16 Avenue Adaptive Traffic Signal Control Project including maintenance of this project. 17 Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements 18 and contracts necessary to expedite the engineering and construction of this project. 19 Section 3. The City pledges its full support and hereby authorizes the Metroplan and the Arkansas 20 State Highway and Transportation Department to initiate action to implement this project. 21 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 22 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 23 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 24 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 25 resolution. 26 Section 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with 27 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. 28 Section 6.
