3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT
4 A GRANT APPLICATION FOR A JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY
5 BLOCK GRANT ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN
6 SERVICES, DIVISION OF YOUTH SERVICES AND THE ARKANSAS
7 COALITION FOR JUVENILE JUSTICE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services, Division of Youth Services and the Arkansas
10 Coalition for Juvenile Justice initiated the application process for grant funds to selected units of local and
11 State Government that establish and/or support community-based approaches to prevent juvenile
12 delinquency and to improve the juvenile justice system; and,
13 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is committed to providing Prevention, Intervention and Youth
14 Development Programs and services to enhance public safety and community building; and,
15 WHEREAS, the City desires to authorize the City Manager to move forward with the grant
16 application for this Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) in the amount of Forty-Two Thousand,
17 Eight Hundred Sixty-Six Dollars ($42,866.00), and use of Five Thousand, Three Hundred Fifty-Eight
18 Dollars($5,358.00) in City funds for required match;
19 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
20 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
21 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to submit application to the Department of Human
22 Services, Division of Youth Services, JJDP Unit for the use of these funds for youth in transition services
23 at Little Rock School District William "Bill" Hamilton Learning Academy in the amount of Forty-Two
24 Thousand, Eight Hundred Sixty-Six Dollars($42,866.00). This authorization includes the use of required
25 matching funds in an amount not less than Five Thousand, Three Hundred Fifty-Eight Dollars
26 ($5,358.00).
27 Section 2. Match funds for this project are from The City of Little Rock Undesignated Grant Match
28 fund.
29 Section 3. The proposed grant period is September 1, 2014, through August 31, 2015, subject to
30 funding authorization. Funds will be awarded on an actual cost reimbursement basis.
31 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
32 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
33 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and

1 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
2 resolution.
3 Section 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent
4 with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
