13865 1 RESOLUTION NO. 13,865 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO RENEW 4 THE CONTRACT WITH LINCOLN FINANCIAL GROUP TO PROVIDE 5 LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR NON- 6 UNIFORM CITY EMPLOYEES AT NO CHANGE IN PREMIUM RATE 7 FOR A TWELVE (12)-MONTH PERIOD EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2014; AND 8 FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS, Little Rock Resolution No. 12,680, adopted April 15, 2008, authorized the City 11 Manager to contract with Lincoln Financial Group to provide long-term disability insurance coverage for 12 non-uniform City employees for a two (2)-year period, pursuant to an RFP which provided for annual 13 renewals for a maximum seven-year term; and, 14 WHEREAS, the incumbent Lincoln Financial Group has offered to renew the current policy for a 15 twelve(12)-month period at no change in premium rate; and, 16 WHEREAS, if renewed, this year will represent the final year of the seven (7)-year maximum 17 contract period noted in the most recent RFP; and, 18 WHEREAS, Lincoln Financial Group representatives have been responsive to the needs of City Staff 19 and employees who have filed for benefits; 20 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 21 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 22 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to extend the existing policy with Lincoln Financial 23 Group to provide long-term disability insurance coverage for Non-Uniform City employees for a final 24 twelve(12)-month period at no change in the premium rate, effective May 1, 2014. 25 Section 2. Funds for the cost of the coverage is included as a line item in the 2014 City Budget. 26 Section 3. Severability. In the event any portion of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be 27 invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this 28 resolution, which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or 29 unconstitutional were not originally a part of this resolution. 30 Section 4. Repealer.
