5581 RESOLUTION NO 5,581 A RESOLUTION GRANTING A TEMPORARY FRANCHISE TO MEDIC VAC AMBULANCE, INC. TO OPERATE AND PRO- VIDE AMBULANCE SERVICE IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, the need for additional ambulance service in the City of Little Rock has been determined; and WHEREAS, Medic Vac Ambulance, Inc. has applied for a license as an ambulance service operator within the corporate limits of Little Rock providing additional such services to that now being rendered by A-1 Ambulance Service , a duly authorized franchisee ; and, WHEREAS, changes in the provisions of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances are now being undertaken for presentation to the Board of Directors for enactment all pertaining to ambulance service in the City of Little Rock; and WHEREAS , Medic Vac Ambulance, Inc. should be licensed on a temporary basis to provide ambulance service subject to the terms and conditions as herein set forth and provided. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1 . Medic Vac Ambulance, Inc. , is hereby granted a franchise as an ambulance service operator in the City of Little Rock subject to the following terms and conditions : a) The license herein granted shall terminate thirty (30) days following the enactment of changes by the Board of Directors to the provisions of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances pertaining to ambulances in the City of Little Rock. b) Medic Vac Ambulance, Inc. shall be the primary responder for calls for ambulance service in the area of the City lying South of 65th Street, and A-1 Ambulance Service shall continue to respond in said area, but only as a secondary responder. Further, Medic Vac Ambulance, Inc. shall be entitled to respond to calls for ambulance service North of 65th Street, but only in a secondary capacity, with A-1 Ambulance Service being the primary and first responder. c) This franchise license shall be conditioned on the said Medic Vac Ambulance, Inc. complying, in advance of operation, with all particulars of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances as such now exist pertaining to ambulances in the City of Little Rock. -2- d) At such time as the provisions of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances pertaining to ambulances are changed by amendment or otherwise , the said Medic Vac Ambulance , Inc. shall be privileged to make application for the privilege of operating an ambulance service in the City of Little Rock pursuant to the provisions thereof as changed.
