A RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION AND APPRECIATION
TO RAYMOND SQUIRES FOR EXCEPTIONAL SERVICES;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, when the City of Little Rock employed Raymond
Squires in July of 1948, it was for him the fulfillment of
a boyhood dream; and
WHEREAS , since June of 1953 when he became Director of
the Little Rock Zoo, Mr. Squires has used his time , energies ,
talents and untiring efforts in designing, planning and
bringing into being a zoo which all the citizens of this
state love and enjoy as evidenced by having more than half a
million visitors to the Zoo in 1974; and
WHEREAS , the Board of Directors acknowledges the retirement
of Raymond Squires with sincere regret for the professional
knowledge and judgment this man expressed as Director of the
Little Rock Zoo will be missed by all.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock , acting for and on behalf of all the citizens of Little
Rock hereby commend Raymond Squires for exceptional service
as Director of the Little Rock zoo for twenty-one years and
express deep appreciation to him in his retirement for leaving
to us a first class Zoo that we all enjoy and one which will
be enjoyed for generations to come.
SECTION 2 . The Board of Directors would express their
thanks to Raymond Squires and wish for him joy and happiness
in his retirement.
SECTION 3 . This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
