A RESOLUTION
IN MEMORIAM of
GANN L. NALLY
WHEREAS, Gann L. Nalley was employed as a hoseman
on the Little Rock Fire Department in January, 1930 and
served in various capacities until his recent retirement,
which positions included Acting Chief and Chief of the
Fire Department since 1946; and,
WHEREAS, the respect with which Gann L. Nalley
was regarded by those employed within his department and
by all others who knew him will stand in tribute to his
many fine personal qualities as a man and as a leading
public servant; and,
WHEREAS, the dedication of Gann L. Nalley to duty
has expressed itself in continued exposure to physical
injury both from the hazard of fire-fighting and from
remaining on call all hours of the day and night for years
on end, which may have adversely affected his physical well
being; and,
WHEREAS, Gann L. Nalley departed this life on
July 24, 1965, and his passing is a source of sorrow to
this Board of Directors and to the citizens of Little
Rock who knew and appreciated his worth as a man and as
a most valuable public servant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City
of Little Rock does hereby pay tribute and acknowledge
its highest respect to the late Gann L. Nalley for his
dedication and service to the citizens of the City of
Little Rock as Chief of the Fire Department for seven-
teen years.
SECTION 2. This Board of Directors and the
employees of this City join with the family of Gann
L. Nalley in being deeply grieved at his passing and
do give assurance that the faithfulness and wholeness
of his labors as Chief of the Fire Department will ever
be an example of highest public service.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full
force and effect from and after its adoption.
