8069i M rn N 0 ro 0 w H v =a -"'*= 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 - - - as. = RESOLUTION NO. 8,069 RESOLUTION OF THE LITTLE ROCK BOARD OF DIRECTORS ENDORSING CITY PARTICIPATION IN A CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROGRAM WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR AND TO PROVIDE MATCHING GRANT FUNDS NECESSARY TO RESEARCH, DOCUMENT AND PROMOTE HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK. WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and desirable in futherance of the public interest and welfare to preserve and protect and to encourage private efforts to restore, preserve, and protect numerous sites and structures of historic and architectural interests and significance in the City of Little Rock; and WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has been accepted into the Certified Local Government Program which makes matching grant funds available to promote the preservation of historic sites, structures, objects, and buildings in historic districts by establishing a partnership between the local government and the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program; and WHEREAS, there are areas within the City that contain significant structures and buildings that have not been surveyed and are therefore not eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places, and therefore are not eligible for investment tax credits to encourage their preservation and restoration; and WHEREAS, the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program and the Quapaw Quarter Association have agreed to assist the City in documenting these structures and buildings that are historic or architecturally distinctive which should be preserved, maintained, and protected. The Little Rock Board of Directors hereby endorses the City's continued participation in the Certified Local Government Program by committing to the project $4,083.50 in previously appropriated funds to be matched with the monies from the United States Department of Interior for the purpose of research and analysis of historically significant structures, publication of a guidebook on Little Rock's historic neighborhoods and printing of structure surveys in the Governor's Mansion National Register Historic District.
