HALE, CHIEF OF THE LITTLE ROCK POLICE DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, the events of recent weeks have created a true concern by the members of this Board and the citizens of the City of Little Rock for their friend and employee, Jess F. "Doc" Hale; and WHEREAS, in times like these it is necessary to remember the numerous contributions that Chief Hale has made to his family, his friends, and his community; and WHEREAS, in this instance such memories are easy to come by since Chief "Doc" Hale had been such an inspiration to so many people for so many years as a result of his hard work and devotion to law enforcement; and WHEREAS, the manifestations of this hard work include rising from the rank of rookie police officer to the office of Chief of Police, attaining the top score while a student at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, receiving several letters of commendation, and leading the investigative division of the Attorney General's Office; and WHEREAS, "Doc" Hale was admired for his thoughtfulness and caring in dealing with all citizens of the City of Little Rock; and WHEREAS, as Chief of Police, Doc's true leadership skills were best reflected by his humble self- effacing way of bringing unity and calm to the Little Rock Police Department, yet all the while earning him the unanimous respect of his officers. The Board of Directors on behalf of the entire community expresses its deepest sympathy and concern to the family of Chief Jess F. "Doc" Hale. We all will miss the positive guidance and influence he has provided to his friends and fellow co- workers.
